What do you think about the HBO series Generation Kill? ?

Being a former officer in the Marine Corps, I have mixed feelings. Some things were very accurate and some were pure fantasy. I'm curious to hear what the other soldiers and former soldiers have to say.

I thought it was very accurate. I know most people complain about because it portrays some higher ranking marines like idiots. Well, the truth is that there are plenty of them. Brains do not come with stripes or bars that pin. My unit experienced a lot. Not so with the officials, but SNCO's. I think the best example of this was Sgt. Major Sixta and obsession with "standard preparation". These things / senior officers as to break the morale of all Marines. You just get done with a shoot and are Humvee in their magazines and reloading refilling your water when some retard comes SNCO and is more concerned by the fact that there is shaved in the morning if you have Chow enough ammunition and water. we did all the time in Afghanistan with our First Sergeant. I think it was an extremely realistic portrayal, and one without prejudice at that. It was written by a civilian reporter embedded with the Marines. He simply wrote what he saw.
