How does "Prime Time" television programming work? When are the final season of Gray's Anatomy & Heroes?

There have been weeks episode w / Gray or new. The heroes will not be back until 23 April. What's the deal? Why are they playing us fans? How do these programs? Why are some programs to continue with new episodes and reruns on now?

Most new programming networks to ensure that events run raids in the months - November, February and May are the largest. This is the time scores using to set advertising rates, so you want the highest possible rating at the time. The remaining new episodes of execution from the main station, generally in September or October, and between those months.
