Deadwood Movie

Having always been something of a purist when it comes to Sherlock Holmes, was a little wary before watching the new film by Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. I had seen one or two comments, and generally were unfavorable. So I just had to see for myself.
As Ritchie first big budget ($ 90million), movie he is definitely looking for a blockbuster. Since a huge fan of Holmes's early films, including starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Also a big fan of the Jeremy Brett television series, this film was a revelation.
Ritchie Boy certainly has put his own stamp on the character not only of Sherlock Holmes, played by Robert Downey Jr., but also that of Dr. John Watson (Jude Law). Personally, after reading all stories by Arthur Conan Doyle often prefer to think that this characterization of Watson is much more than the author intended.
Doyle not provided Watson as an affable buffoon, Fats. It was written as a veteran of the Afghanistan war, strong and thin, and expert with a revolver. Much more, in fact, as is portrayed in this film. It appears that Guy Ritchie has read some of Sherlock Holmes and did it well enough. Downey Portrait of the great detective is sandy and wonderfully played.
The story centers around the character of Lord Blackwood (played by Mark Strong), who has been doing a Jack The Ripper printing, ladies kill. However, it is illusions that common or garden mass murderer in world domination of the black arts participation.
There are a lot more action in this movie than any of Sherlock Holmes I've seen. It works well here. Bare knuckle fight scene Downey is excellent, if a little spacey at times, and I loved the scene where Watson Holmes smells in the nose becomes more objectionable when Watson and participation pending marriage to Mary Morstan (Kelly Reilly).
Women's Interest is added to the inclusion of the character of Irene Adler, a throwaway character more or less as written by Doyle, but given much more importance here as the former girl (lady) friend of Sherlock Holmes. Played by Rachel McAdams, who has aa rather important role inscrutable work for an employer who seems to want Holmes to investigate the murder of a chemical that is somehow connected to the risen Lord Blackwood.
The final scenes, played out in the nearly completed Tower Bridge, are worthy any Bruce Willis or Steven Segal-action thriller. To my great surprise I enjoyed this latest film Sherlock Holmes, and I think Guy Ritchie finally got his great success.
